Winged man

سنگ نگاره کوروش بزرگ در پاسارگاد بر روی دیوار درگاه شمال خاوری پاسارگاد کنده‌کاری شده‌است. بالای این نقش سنگ‌نوشته ای سه زبانی بوده که مسافران اروپایی آن را توصیف و نقاشی کرده بودند. این سنگ‌نوشته دربردارندهٔ جملهٔ «منم کوروش شاه هخامنشی» بود و همین موضوع باعث شد برخی این سنگ‌نگاره را مجسمه کوروش بپندارند در حالیکه بر پایهٔ دیدگاه کارشناسان جملهٔ یادشده در واقع معرّف سازندهٔ تندیس است نه خود تندیس.

The petroglyph of Cyrus the Great in Pasargad is carved on the wall of the north-eastern gate of Pasargad. On top of this picture there is a trilingual stone inscription that was described and painted by European travelers. This stone inscription contained the sentence "I love Cyrus, the Achaemenid king" and this made some people think that this petroglyph is a statue of Cyrus, while according to experts, the said sentence actually refers to the creator of the statue, not the statue itself.
